Commissioning of Lay Ecclesial Ministers
On May 24 , the Diocese of San Jose celebrated through Evening Prayer on the Commissioning of Lay Ecclesial Ministers at Saint Joseph of Cupertino . Presided by Father John Hurley , CSP , the Vicar for Evangelization , four Lay Ecclesial Ministers : Sharon Aeria , Ana Collins , Terry Jelley , and Lynne Lukenbill were recognized .
Heart Speaks to Heart : The Art of Spiritual Friendship June 5-7 @ 10 a . m . – 3:30 p . m .; School of Applied Theology , 5890 Birch Court , Oakland . Wendy M . Wright , Ph . D ., a scholar in the Salesian tradition and author of fifteen books , including “ The Essential Spirituality Handbook ,” will focus on friendship – the form of love some have deemed the most Christian of loves – as a spiritual path . Together we will explore together its history , contours , graces and challenges and its place in contemporary spiritual practice . Cost : $ 295 CEUs available .
Out of the Wilderness Suicide Bereavement Support Group June 6 @ 6:30 p . m .; Holy Spirit Parish , 1200 Redmond Ave , San Jose . Join others in Out of the Wilderness , a suicide bereavement support group for those who have experienced the death of a loved one by suicide . The group is open to anyone who has experienced grief from loss by suicide . There is no charge . We ask only that you make a commitment to attend the four-week session . Superintendent of Schools Kathy Almazol presents Holy Family School Principal Bridgit McGarry will a plaque honoring her years of service to the Diocese of San Jose at the annual Principal ’ s Dinner on May 23 at Bishop Patrick J . McGrath ’ s residence . McGarry is leaving Holy Family to become Vice Principal at Bellarmine College Prep .
