ADA Holds Annual Awards Luncheon to Recognize Achievement
By Liz Sullivan
Before a crowd of close to 80 parishioners from
across the Diocese of San Jose, the Annual Diocesan
Appeal (ADA) held its annual awards luncheon on
June 10, at Saint Justin Parish.
Following the theme of “Proclaiming God’s Love,
Together in Christ,” four awards were presented to
successful parishes by Bishop Patrick J. McGrath.
Those award-winning parishes were:
Saint Lucy Parish – Stewardship Award, which is
presented to the parish that has gone above and
beyond to ensure timely and accurate batching and
pledge-record keeping.
Saint Elizabeth Parish – Director’s Award, which goes
to the parish having the highest percentage of revenue
paid, by the end of the active phase, in relationship
to their goal.
Saint John the Baptist – Capital Award, which goes
to the parish that received the greatest percentage of
goal pledged.
Our Lady of Guadalupe – Bishop’s Award, which is
given to the parish that has the greatest increase in
participation from the previous year, and has reached
their parish goal by the end of the active phase of the
campaign.
“Your works are a major source of fundraising for
the Diocese of San Jose,” said the Bishop. “Thank you
for all of your efforts. I realize it is time consuming,
but it is greatly appreciated.”
Bishop’s Award – Our Lady of Guadalupe
Accepted by Desi Lucas. Director’s Award – Saint Elizabeth
Accepted by Judy Williams and Tina Delos Santos.

According to the Diocese’s Office for Stewardship
and Development, the goal of this year’s ADA cam-
paign was a little more than $6 million. So far, 19,999
pledges have been received and pledging $8.258 mil-
lion, with $5.960 million already collected. That is an
average pledge of $412.93 and more than $2.3 million going back to the parishes.
“The support and generosity we have received
has been unbelievable,” said Bill Matthews, Director
of Stewardship and Development. “The people have
been so giving of their time. The stewardship has
been amazing.”
