Hai Thầy Angelbert Chikere và Giu-se Trần chịu chức Phó tế ở Giáo phận San José

Hai Thầy Angelbert Chikere và Giu-se
Phúc Trầ n đã đáp lại tiếng gọi.
Đứng trước Đức Giám mục Oscar
Cantú và một nhà thờ đông đảo tín hữu,
hai người đã được phong chức Phó tế
chuyển tiếp cho Giáo phận San José trong
một Thánh lễ tại nhà thờ Holy Family vào
ngày 4 tháng 1 vừa qua.
“Đối với Angelbert và Giu-se, có một
điề u đáng nói về việc theo đuổi những
điề u mình tin,” Đức Cha Cantú đã nói
như vậy trong bài giảng của ngài. “Cuộc
hành trình này đã cho thấy hai thầy là ai.
Hành trình bắt đầ u từ lâu, khi Chúa đặt
tay lên vai các thầy mà nói: hãy theo Ta,
và đã dẫn hai thầy đến thời điểm này, khi
hai người thưa vâng trước thánh ý Chúa
và theo Ngài.
Thánh lễ Truyền chức, được cử hành
bằng ba thứ tiếng Anh, Việt, và Tây Ba
Nha, nổi bật với việc đặt tay của vị Giám
mục và lời khẩn cầu ơn Chúa Thánh Thầ n.
Bài đọc thứ hai được công bố bằng
tiếng igbo như dấu hiệu trân trọng truyề n
thống dân tộc của thầy Chikere, ngoài
ra ca đoàn Igbo hát trong phầ n chuẩn bị
dâng lễ vật. Truyề n thống Việt Nam của
thầy Phúc cũng được trân trọng khi khi
ca đoàn Việt Nam hát bằng tiếng Việt
và bài đọc thứ nhất được công bố bằng
tiếng Việt Nam.
Giáo phận đã có vài linh mục gốc Phi
châu, nhưng thầy Chikere là người đầ u
tiên thuộc cộng đồ ng igbo. Đây là cộng
đồ ng bản xứ của vùng Trung-Nam và
Đông-Nam ở nước Nigeria.
Hai thầy này, một người từ miền duyên
hải Tây Phi-châu và một người từ một làng
nhỏ ở Việt Nam, đã mang lại sự hào hứng
và hân hoan thấy rõ trên khuôn mặt các
tín hữu ngồi kín cả nhà thờ Holy Family.
Trong phầ n kết thúc bài giảng, vị Giám
mục đã nói với hai người: “Cầ u chúc hai
thầy tiếp tục thưa vâng mỗi ngày. Mong
hai thầy tiếp tục đáp trả lời mời gọi của
Thiên Chúa.”

Quảng Bình, Priests in Solidarity With Citizens: The New Dam is a Danger

Hanoi (AsiaNews) - In the coastal
province of Quảng Bình (central Viet-
nam), priests and religious have sup-
ported protests by residents since last
August against the construction of a
dam that puts the homes of hundreds
of families at risk. The Rào Nam dam
is only 150 meters from Linh Cận Sơn,
a village located in Quảng Sơn, a rural
municipality in the municipality of Ba
Đồn. Citizens fear that a malfunction
of the plant could cause death and
destruction.

timidation and bribery attempts, using

Ms. Ra Phan Thị Thủy, a resident of
Linh Cận Sơn village, told local media:
“Our people are very poor. This area is
located downstream. Every rainy sea-
son, we are hit hard. Half of our homes
are at constant flood risk. Water is able
to sweep everything away. After each
flood, we are very scared. But now the
government wants to block the river
to build a new dam over 7 meters tall.
In case of heavy rainfall, this could
break.” Other residents add, “The
consequences would be disastrous.
We ask the government to move the
dam by 5 km and reduce its height.”
