Queen of Apostles School celebrates Catholic Schools Week
ST. JOHN the BAPTIST SCHOOL – Bishop Patrick J. McGrath visited St. John the
Baptist School during Catholic Schools Week. The Augustinian Recollect Sisters there
gave him a gift of a Papal Blessing which was presented by Father Ritche Bueza, pastor.

celebrated Catholic Schools Week with
a special Parish/School Mass; Associate
Pastor Father Angelo David presided
with Pastor Father Thuc Si Ho in the
assembly.
Students wore school uniforms to
demonstrate school pride and solidarity
and served as greeters, ushers, readers,
and by singing in the choir. Students
also wrote the prayers offered during
the Mass which was well attended by
parishioners and students.
The school’s Authors and Artists’
Faire and Open House were also held.
The Author and Artists Faire is a showcase of student artwork in several media
from models to pastels and sculptures.
Original written work is also showcased and includes poetry, essays and
short stories. The work is framed/
bound and labeled and presented in “art
gallery” fashion in the Father Mifsud
gym. Over 1,000 original pieces were
on display.

St. Victor School
honors U.S. troops
During Catholic Schools Week at the end of
January, St. Victor School students celebrated
“Faith, Knowledge and Service: In Our Nation
and Our Students.” For Nation Day, students
wrote letters to alumni and others serving in
the United States Armed Services.
After graduating from St. Victor School in
2001, Jeff Denzel attended Archbishop Mitty
High School where he played football, wrestling and track.
He attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, where he majored in
chemistry, was commissioned as an Ensign
and attended the naval Post Graduate School
in Monterey, CA on a Bowman Scholarship
earning a Masters in Physics.
He then attended the Navy’s Nuclear
Power and Submarine basic schools. He
is currently assigned to the USS Olympis,
SSN 717, based in Pearl Harbor, HI. The USS
Olympia is a Los Angeles class fast attack
submarine and part of Sub Squadron 7. Now
a full Lieutenant, Denzel is deployed in the
western Pacific.
Andy Strawbridge graduated from St.
Victor School in 2003 and entered Bellarmine
College Prep where he was part of the championship water polo team. Upon graduation
Andy attended the United States Air Force
Academy in Colorado Springs and continued
to play water polo while majoring in pre-med.
After graduation he was commissioned as
a 2nd Lieutenant and awarded a full scholarship to medical school. Now, First Lieutenant,
he is about to begin his final year of medical
school in San Diego and will be assigned
to overseas military hospitals, attending
wounded troops.
