Vallombrosa Center presents
Local Filipinos celebrate
St. Pedro Calungsod
Vallombrosa Center in Menlo Park
is sponsoring a half-day talk on “Theology of the Body,” March 8, 9 a.m. to
noon, presented by Ed Hopfner, recently appointed Director of Marriage
and Family Life for the Archdiocese of
San Francisco.
“This talk will present the Catholic
Church’s teaching on marriage and
sexuality in a way that is attuned to the
modern person,” said Rachel Alvelais
of the Vallombrosa staff.
She said, “Many people have heard
of Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the
Body and recent popes have called for
a ‘New Evangelization’ – capable of
reaching people in everyday life.
“The Theology of the Body attempts
to do that,” she said, “offering a meditation on human love and happiness that
resonates with the human heart.”
Hopfner has given talks on marriage, sexuality and family life throughout North America. Originally from
Seattle, he has a master’s degree in
Theology from the Dominican School
of Philosophy and Theology and resides in Berkeley.
The presentation will be given
again on May 3. For more information
