Family Haiti Initiative board meeting

The Daughters of Charity, Province
of the West, hosted the board meeting
of the Vincentian Family Haiti Initiative (VFHI), an organization empowering Haitians living in poverty to
achieve sustainable human and economic development.
The meeting, which was held on the
West Coast for the first time, convened
at Seton Provincialate in Los Altos Hills.
“It was an honor to host the board
meeting here at Seton,” said Sister Marjory Ann Baez, Visitatrix. “Their work in
Haiti goes to the heart of our Mission to
minister to those living in poverty. As
members of our Vincentian Family,
they translate the healing mission of
Christ into action and serve those most
in need.”
Prior to the January 2010 earthquake
in Haiti, the Vincentian Family supported individual business endeavors
through micro-financing projects and
social projects.
Vincentian Family members working in Haiti include the Daughters of
Charity, Vincentian Fathers, Ladies of
Charity and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. These communities embrace the
charism of St. Vincent de Paul, a country
priest who organized charity for the
poor in 17th century France.
Following the 7.0 earthquake, the
four branches of the Vincentian Family accelerated their work in Haiti and
formed the Vincentian Family Haiti
Initiative,
