St. christopher School students visit seminary
Sixth grade students at St. Christopher School, San Jose, recently visited St. Patrick’s
Seminary & University in Menlo Park.
Father Andrew Nguyen, parochial vicar at St. Christopher, and Father John Poncini,
Director of Vocations for the Diocese of San Jose, collaborated with St. Christopher teachers Nick Iden and Denise Brady to organize this event.
St. Patrick’s Seminary, established in 1898, engages in initial and ongoing formation
of Roman Catholic priests, especially for dioceses in the Western United States and the
Pacific Rim.
Students toured the grounds and buildings and learned about its history. They shared
part of the day with Bishop Patrick J. McGrath, who was also visiting.
In a question and answer session with a group of seminarians, students had the opportunity to learn more about vocations and faith. Students were asked by some of the
seminarians to join them in outdoor recreation -- playing basketball, soccer and volleyball.
