MHT seventh graders attend ‘Me to We’ day
By Dorothy Nguyen, 7th grader
On a trip to a once in a lifetime experience, seventh graders at Most Holy
Trinity School, San Jose, journeyed to
Oakland to attend “Me to We” day! It’s
a rally that urges young global citizens
to change the world through an inspirational event.
In order to attend, MHT was required to accomplish a global outreach
and local outreach. Blanket drives,
clothing drives, and lunch for the homeless contributed to the local outreach,
while a coin drive for the people of Nigeria contributed to the global outreach.
At the Oracle arena, lights flashed
and glittered like stars as enthusiastic
students who have changed the world
gathered together to inspire many others. The loud cheer of every student
boomed across the stadium.
Everyone participated in the event,
willing to change the world! In the
middle, stood an illuminated stage
where many prominent people who
made a difference in our world showed
up to inspire the children of California.
People such as Martin Luther King III,
Magic Johnson, Big Sean, Young Stich,
Reggie Watts and Clemantine Wamariya
showed up at the stage to put forth the
message of changing the world.
An unforgettable moment every seventh grader will never forget is the story
Clemantine shared. “You do not need
‘Me to We’ founders Craig and Marc
Kielburger.
to be powerful, you do not need to be
wealthy to raise someone’s spirit!” she
urged. “I dare you to be aware of others. I dare you to be mindful of people
around you.”
As all the motivational speakers
spoke, their powerful words inspired
thousands of students to reach out to
those in need. It was hard to believe
that this all started with a seventh
grader’s dream.
Craig Kielburger was just looking
for his daily comics when he came
across a newsletter that discusses how
a 12- year-old boy, much like Craig, was
assassinated because he stood up for
what he believed in.
Craig realized he must bring change
to the lives of children who need help
in the world. His organization started
small, but as years went by, students
from across the nation gather together
to change the world, one child at a time.
ST. FRANCES CABRINI PRE-K classes recently learned about safety and emergency
services when paramedics brought an EMT ambulance to school to give a demonstration
of what happens when someone gets hurt.

St. Nicholas School in Los Altos Hills
recently put on “Beauty and the Beast
Jr.” as part of their after-school drama
program for 4th - 8th graders. Young
performers (grades 1-3) entertained with
Disney songs before the play. In photo

In February St. Clare School, Santa
Clara, hosted a Jump Rope For Heart
program in support of the American
Heart Association. Through this community service project, students were
educated on the importance of heart
health (exercise, nutrition and living
tobacco free).
All 280 students were outside jumping rope with support of the school
community. Some 102 students/families turned in a donation and the school
raised over $3,500 in life-saving funds.
The program was organized by Valerye
Moore, Childcare Director.
Mrs. Rader-Principal, Mrs. GrahamAssistant Principal, and the faculty and
staff plan to continue the program next
year in February (Heart Health Awareness Month) and to partner with the
American Heart Association to fight
cardiovascular disease and stroke.
