News from Knights of Columbus
• KC’s celebrate anniversary
On March 29, a group Knights of
Columbus and their families participated in a special Mass for the 132nd anniversary of the founding of the KCs.
The Mass was dedicated to Venerable
Michael J. McGivney and was celebrated
by Father Joe Galang, Chaplain, KCs
Council #4981.
Following Mass, the group of 30
participants did a one-mile walk, in
the Church of the Ascension residential
neighborhood in Saratoga.
• KC Free Throw held at MHT
The Annual Knights of Columbus
basketball Free Throw was held with
Most Holy Trinity School (San Jose)
physical education classes. Winning
sixth grade students were Tony Saenz,
Carlos Diaz and Jocelyn Galvan, who
qualified for district finals in Los Altos.
David Cardena of Knights of Columbus Council #9718 thanked Mrs.
Dorothy Suarez, Principal, for allowing the Council to conduct the event at
MHT School.

‘HomeFirst’ provides
housing-first strategies to end homelessness

Ching Ming liturgist, and
members of the San Jose
Chinese Catholic Mission
gathered for Mass at Gate
of Heaven Cemetery’s All
Saints Chapel, April 5, to
celebrate Ching Ming. Over
170 people attended. Following Mass, they visited
graves of loved ones.
Sacred Heart Community Service
began 50 years ago as the late Louise Benson and a few of her friends
brought food and clothing to families
living in poverty in San Jose. Now,
Sacred Heart helps over 75,000 people
each year and involves more than 9,000
volunteers.
