2 IN THE DIOCESE April 2, 2019 | The Valley Catholic Diocese of San Jose Names Joshua Bennett General Counsel Diocese of San Jose has named Joshua Bennett as General Counsel. Bennett replaces John M. Ottoboni, who was recently named Chief Oper- ating Officer of Santa Clara University (SCU). Because of his new responsibili- ties at the University, Ottoboni will no longer be able to serve as Diocesan General Counsel, which he has done so since 2001. He will continue, however, to support the work of the Bishop and Bennett. Bennett has over 12 years of experi- ence in private practice, in which he concentrated on business and real es- tate law. He is admitted to the State Bar of California, the United States District Court – Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeal – 9 th Circuit. A graduate of Santa Clara Univer- sity, Bennett holds a B.S. in Political Science, and a law degree from Santa Clara University Law School. Before attending SCU, Bennett grew up in Southern California. He and his wife, Catie, and their four children are members of Saint Nicholas and Saint William Parish, where the children also attend Saint Nicholas School. Publisher Bishop Patrick J.
