General Operations The University of Georgia is committed to developing a culture of sustainability through education and outreach as well as by setting an example of sustainable practices and resource conservation. The Sustainable UGA Office Program is designed to help UGA departments and discrete office units, such as the UGACR Office, become more sustainable in their water and energy use, waste management, purchasing practices and transportation choices. Steps Toward a Greener Office With the help of the Office of Sustainability, the UGA Office of International Education is taking steps to become more sustainable in the areas of water and energy use, waste management, purchasing practices and transportation choices. 32 University of Georgia Costa Rica Composting in the office kitchen ensures that nothing goes to waste. All employees are encouraged to compost both in the office and at home. 65% It is a goal of UGA’s 2020 Strategic Plan to reduce waste overall and to recycle 65% of waste materials generated.
