Goal Achievement 15% Up to 15 percent of food consumed at the UGACR campus is produced on the campus’ organic farm. Thirty percent of the food consumed comes from the San Luis area and the rest comes from within 120 km. 80% Three different compost systems are used to meet the high demand for nutrient rich soil, increasing agricultural yields. Vermiculture is used in one system to take advantage of worm castings. A second system contains raw food waste, leaves, chicken waste, and animal beddings. Lastly, the largest system mixes nutrient deprived soil with yard clippings such as dried grasses, straw, and weeds. Dairy product comes from the adult cows in the stables, which 80 percent of waste is organic and can be reused on the farm as compost ot at the stables to fed the pigs. use a rotational grazing pattern to allow for adequate forage growth. Pigs roam freely in a designated pasture near the stables and consume leftover scraps
