GOAL: Install low-flow
shower heads and aerators
to all campus sinks and
showers by 2011.
This goal is only one facet of an
overarching goal to conserve
water, a high priority in an area
dominated by agriculture. UGA
Costa Rica shares the Rio San
Luis watershed with a number
of communities, including
human, plant, and animal. As
part of the campus orientation,
students, staff, interns, and
guests are informed of the
water conservation policies of
the campus, with signs placed
around campus to serve as a daily
reminder. Guests are encouraged
to consider water conservation
at all times. In order to aid in this
effort, every sink and shower-head
on campus is retrofitted with lowflow aerators and faucets.
In 2011, UGA Costa Rica switched

pipeline connected to a local
