operations (see p. 6). Each year
the audit and report are prepared
by a team of Sustainability
Interns with the intention of
spreading information to visitors
and the general public and
documenting progress toward
the established goals. Prior

This Sustainability Report
spans the period from May
2013 – June 2015, and examines
the 5 year goals set out in the
2010 Sustainability Report. In
2013, UGACR achieved 4 out
of 5 leaves in pursuit of the
Certification for Sustainable
Tourism (CST). Additional
information regarding research
initiatives, community outreach,
and educational programs are
also highlighted. We hope you
will enjoy this report and receive
a better understanding of the
initiatives taken and the undying
commitment the campus has
taken towards both practicing
and educating others about
principles of sustainability.

Building a Sustainable
Foundation
The first internal sustainability audit
was conducted in 2010 and now
serves as a baseline from which future
progress is measured. The 2010 report
established eleven goals for improving
the sustainability of UGACR’s
operations. For more information, see
page 6.
In 2013, UGACR achieved 4 out of 5
leaves in pursuit of the Certification
for Sustainable Tourism (CST). For
more information, see page 34.
Throughout the years, the
UGACR campus has been
transformed from a small
coffee and dairy farm to
a sustainable campus
supporting thousands of
guests and students each year.
