The big three companies Rogers, Telus and BCE have been dominating Canada for the long run now. Their 91% control over the wireless market, places Canada among one of the 10 most expensive countries for wireless services amongst others. The government tries to even out the competition that seems to be preventing other companies from entering the telecommunication industry, however it doesn't seem to be working. The upcoming 2014 wireless spectrum auction assured the "Big Three" no new foreign telecom carries were planning on entering the industry. This is a huge disadvantage for the consumers in Canada.

Similar to chapter 7, the article talks about three big telecommunication companies, which have now constructed their selves into oligopolies in Canada. These homogenous oligopolies each increased in terms of their divident, which benefits the Canadian economy. However, unlike a monopoly, which has only one producer, the Big three still face a lot of competition between one another. The government makes sure small companies such as Wind do not get eliminated from the competition, even though it doesn't seem to be working.
