SUMMARY . . .
ECONOMIC CONCEPT . . .
Chapter 6
Donate to the food bank and contribute with the distrubution of goods to the ones in need!
Due to the recent economic crisis the United States has been going through, the idea of cutting down on food stamps became a reoccurring issue that is finally being acted on. The house of rep. proposed a $40 billion cut in food stamps, which got lessened in 2013, to a $4 billion reduction by the Senate. Not only does this decision affect the “poor” and the unemployed who live off the food stamps, which is around 48 million recipients, it also has a negative impact on the economy as well. The government is not truly doing enough to combat poverty in the states.
In relation to chapter 6, which is based on distribution, poverty and wages, the article is about the poor and their lives being in jeopardy due to the reduction of food stamps. High unemployment rate and income inequality are small factors that prevent many individuals from providing for their family needs. Many living off the minimum wage with their big family might spend most of their money on rent or paying off debt they owe. By reducing such an important aspect of many lives, might create an uprising.
