Twenty
by Chelsea Sloley
The fall weather gives the city a soothing energy
People bustle along the concrete sidewalks,
I can hear the fast pattering and clicking
of the shoes of many walking past. I am twenty.
I gaze at the tall buildings before me,
so tall they look like they’re aiming for space,
the buildings made of glass look so fragile,
yet strong and sturdy as if they’re made of brick. I am twenty.
I imagine myself dressed up nice,
a college student interning in one of those buildings.
Moving fast, trying to keep up with the fast paces.
I learn new things, meet new people. I am twenty.
I continue to ponder as I walk,
I accidentally bump into someone, stuck in my daze.
We both say sorry. I notice they’re from one of my classes in university,
we introduce ourselves and decide to explore the beautiful city together.
We gazed at the scene, we are twenty.
