The Wonders of Nature
by Chelsea Sloley
What is my favorite
thing about ponds?
Maybe it’s the way the frogs
hop as high as kids on pogo sticks.
Quack! Quack! The mother duck
guides her chicks in the water.
I am simply an observer,
a tourist at a museum.
The peaceful scenery is as if I’m
listening to a melodic Mozart piece.
Though tranquil, the mosquitos in flight
bite other creatures with all their might.
Orange and white Koi fish
aimlessly swim in the calm water.
15 Frogs fight for food
in the small, yet populated oasis.
Water lilies glide across the water
like a graceful ice dancer.
Dragonfly wings flap a million times per second,
so fast that if you blink you might miss them.
What’s not to love about
the magnificence of nature’s beauty?
