The Treasures of Travel
by Isabella Lamendola
What is it like
to travel the world?
Each day is like the first day of school,
always learning something new.
Beep! Beep! The tour bus is here.
8 o’clock and it’s time to start the day.
I am a small fish in a big pond.
I have so much left to see.
I am Indiana Jones.
I navigate the globe in search of myself.
Bags, tags, and miniature flags
litter my messy hotel room.
Will I have to go on without my trusted compass,
the only thing that may lead me in the right direction?
Tens of thousands of travelers
pass through these towns each week.
Their minds are all in search of something unique,
something they can only attain on their own
as they scale Mount Fuji
or hike Mount Everest.
Will all of them succeed? We may never know.
But it is the experiences they gain along the way that is their true treasure.
