Long ago, there lived a peculiar girl named Laney Liberman, in the faraway lands of Heshville village. One night, while transporting herself to a new world of fantasy and fortune, Laney had a dream where she was crying over a broken toy dinosaur, but only seconds after the first tear came dribbling down her cheek, a beautiful woman with golden-brown hair and bright amber eyes came rushing in the room. The woman’s warm embrace hugged her like a comfy sweater until a big smile came across Laney’s face, quickly wiping away her tears with the back of her palm.
“Don’t cry my precious Laney, I’ll make it better now” The woman whispered in her ear, patching up Laney’s sad expression. She was happy, in a place she could call home, with a person who held her close because she loved her, Of course, that’s when Laney knew it was only a matter of time before she woke up, leaving this pleasant feeling and back to her sorrowful reality.
Her alarm dropped heavy wallows three times before she could get it to stop, the terribly loud noises knocking on her eardrums, yearning to say hello. Oh, if only she could get five more minutes of sleep, but she knew better than to wait and see what would be waiting for her if she took that chance. Her room was like a box of solitary confinement, with dirty brown walls, old wallpaper peeling from the corners, and the most minuscule window built in by the far side of the door. The bed that was as a portal to her splendid dreams held a small white mattress with exactly one pillow and a thin metal headboard, with rust enveloping the swirly designs on the
top. At the right corner was a small dresser filled with the little clothing she had collected over the years, and that was it.
Three more seconds passed when Laney sprang out of bed, looking at the rugged reflection looking back at her. Out of all the troubles roaming around Laney’s head, her looks had never been one of them. She had a tall, lanky figure, with ivory skin and dull chocolate eyes, her long black hair reaching the bottom of her back. It was not the most appealing look on the eyes, but it was enough to keep Laney satisfied. Breaking from her daydream, Laney began pulling her long oily hair into a high bun, leaving her single baby hairs stranded loose, smoothing out her green oversized tee shirt and running out the door, but being careful not to slam it on her way out. Heaven knows Laney would not live to see the day if that were to happen again.
