WHERE I’M FROM

I am from Jamros and Saddle Brook

The only place I’ve ever known

I am from beef peas and mac & cheese

And loving to sing “Let it Be”

I am from Aunts who smoked

And stopped for me

And uncles who were banished

But came back all clean

I am from God helping me be me

And Jesus holding fish and loaves to feed

I try not to lie I do my best

I honor my parents who do not rest

I play Magic with dad

And talk teaching with mom

Because where I’m from

There the best parents of all

I'm from having five grandparents

And a great grandma too

From listening to stories about Egypt and war

To gaining the stamps great grandma adored

I'm from a black belt family of friends i can trust

And choirs that insisted I must

From marching band, jazz band, concert band and more

Playing three instruments and I want more

I am from the wonderful town

that holds so much

It holds friends and family that I love just right

It stays in my heart where they all touched
