Awards Professor Paul Elkington ( K , 83-87 ), Professor of Respiratory Medicine , Southampton University has been awarded an MBE in the 2020 Queen ’ s Birthday Honours for services to Medicine particularly during COVID – 19 . ( See OW news in TS129 for details of Paul ’ s PeRSo device .)
Academic Professor Sir Bryan Thwaites ( C , 41- 42 ) has received the degree of DLitt honoris causa from the University of Buckingham for ‘ his outstanding contribution to education over six decades ’. AC Viswanathan ( F , 78-82 ), a consultant surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital , has been promoted to Professor of Ophthalmology at UCL , principally for his work in visual psychophysics and genetic epidemiology . ADS Howard ( I , 11-16 ), has been awarded the Faculty Prize for best overall performance in Part II of the Historical Tripos 2020 at Cambridge University .
Appointments RHF Fuller ( H , 73-77 ) has just been elected Master of the Worshipful Company of Brewers for the next 12 months .
TE Mitchell ( Coll , 78-83 ) has been elected Vice President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England for a period of three years from July 2020 . He has recently been appointed as a Trustee of ENT UK , the national association for ear , nose and throat surgeons .
Sheehan D Scarborough ( Wykeham Junior Fellow , 07-09 ) has been appointed as the senior director of the Harvard Foundation for Intercultural
and Race Relations . He previously served as the director for the Office of BGLTQ Student Life .

Dr Steve Bailey ( Co Ro , 80-09 ) has contributed an article on Winchester College football to Puddings , Bullies & Squashes : Early Public School Football Codes . Britain is not necessarily the birthplace of football , but it is where its two principal codes , association and rugby , were given shape , form and discipline .
