Boarding is safe ; boarding is generously provided for ; boarding stresses the value of the family and of human interactions . The lockdown has reminded us in boarding of just what a big difference there is between being taught and being educated .
Sometime next year – we all trust – a new era will be upon us . But the new era will benefit from the current timely reminder of the immutable values of the old . We have all been growing wiser ; and so far , thank goodness , without the need for growing whiskers as well .

Winchester College Manors and Estates
The Headmaster is looking for willing volunteers who might contribute to a guide to the history of the parishes and manors which Wykeham made part of his foundation , with a brief historical introduction , and then a walk , if possible , to local places of scenic beauty or architectural interest . There would need to be editorial guidance in order to ensure a consistent final product , but any OW who thinks he has enthusiasm and time is welcome to contact the Headmaster ( hm @ wincoll . ac . uk ). The parishes and manors concerned are depicted above .
