Sport CJ Dalley ( C , 62-66 ; VIII , 65-6 ) comments : In the recently-arrived Wykeham Journal I read : ‘ Rowing : Four OWs were selected for the Boat Race .... thought to be a Winchester record ’. In 1968 PC Pritchard ( F , 59- 64 ) stroked OUBC , NS Blackwell ( A , 60-65 ) adorned the bow seat of Isis and CW Daws ( Coll , 60-65 ) and CJ Dalley rowed at 3 and 5 respectively in Goldie . The Boat Race Ball was at the Dorchester ; no hot was held .
Cricket Tim Moore ( Coll , 93-98 ) reports on the OWCC 2020 season : One tied match ; one last-ball finish ; four rampant OWCC victories . The cricket of 2020 – the summer that nearly never happened – had an air of wild abandon , as the recent months of lockdown were briefly forgotten in a welter of searing hot days , flat Lords pitches sitting glistening and unused by the School teams , last-minute team recruitment and hastily filled COVID – 19 risk-mitigation forms . On 22 nd June , the regular OWCC season was formally cancelled , seemingly without hope of any play being possible . Two weeks later , club cricket was unexpectedly given the go-ahead , and the club leapt into action to redesign the season . Mark Burley ( Director of Sport ), Paul Gover ( Head Coach ), and Kim Larcombe ( Head Groundsman ) all immediately responded , making teams and pitches available when the School would normally have been shut for the summer . Their unquestioning desire to see cricket being played , even outside term time , was testament to the passion that they bring to their respective positions . OWCC thanks them sincerely for their help .
The Club made good on its promise , dispatching Downside Wanderers , the Hampshire Hogs , and the I Zingari with impressive performances . Eton clung on to win with only a handful of wickets left in hand . Honours were shared in two matches against the School : OWCC fielded very strong sides in both , giving promising cricketers – as far down as the Yearlings – a useful taste of serious cricket against an experienced ,
