Clarinet Choir and sang with the London Concert Choir. In 1976 he reclaimed his crown as the Jordans Village Fete Fastest Lawn Mower. Married 1957 Elizabeth Denham( separated). He is survived by his two sons and two daughters.
Richard Francis Hanbury Park( B, 46- 51): died 8.4.2016. Brother of CJHP( 42-47). Boxing 1951. National Service, 1st Royal Dragoons( now Blues and Royals) 1951-53. Trinity College, Cambridge 1953 2:2 Law 1956. MA LLB 1957. He then embarked on a successful career as a solicitor. He was President, Notaries Society 1987-89 and chairman, Social Security Tribunals for several years. He was Treasurer of his PCC for ten years. He built a‘ Mirror’ dinghy for one daughter and spent days driving to Pony Club camps for the other daughter. He was an avid gardener who achieved a beautiful garden – much admired. He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 56 years, and their two daughters.
Hon Alexander James Younger( F, 46- 51): died 21.7.2016. Son of EGY( F, 20-25), brother of GKHY( F, 45-49, Warden 97-03) and REGY( F, 53-58) and father of REAY( F, 79-84). 3rd generation of Wykehamists, father to son. Worcester College, Oxford 1953-56, 3 Modern History. National Service with A & S Highlanders 1951-53 and with the Black Watch in Korea 1952-53. He then embarked on a career in printing, first with Sir Joseph Causton & Sons 1956-68. He then moved to become Managing Director, Robert Maclehose & Co, the Glasgow University printers 1968-77 before finally becoming Director Simpson Labu Co Ltd from 1980. He supported his daughter through Pony Club, becoming the local Branch District Commissioner and he was instrumental in setting up the Riding for the Disabled Centre in Scotland. His great success with DIY was to build a hi-fi cabinet – a masterpiece of craftsmanship. He played the piano well and enjoyed the opera. His lifetime passions were shooting and golf. He had a strong sense of what things were worth and of the merits of hard work. He is survived by Annabelle, his wife of 57 years, and their son and three daughters.
Anthony( Tony) Owen Langlois Hodgson( I, 48-53): died 11.7.2016. Exhibitioner. Tancred Studentship and Exhibition, Christ’ s College, Cambridge, 2 English Literature and Theology. National Service, Royal Navy, where he eschewed officer rank and served as an Acting Leading Coder on HMS Crane in the Far East. World Council of Churches Scholarship to Greece to study pastoral life of the Greek Orthodox Church 1959- 60. Ordained 1962. He then served in the Norwich Diocese and thereafter at Christ Church, Lancaster Gate, London. He worked for Christian Aid 1970-74 and was the founder Warden of Little Gidding Community 1973-76 before becoming Vicar of the Giddings 1977-81. He was Warden of Dovedale House Youth Training Centre 1981-89. He was founder of Rural Theological Association and Christian Rural Concern and with his wife the Anglican Expression of Marriage Encounter. He with his wife became pioneers of small lay communities that proliferated to the extent that 135 were listed in the National Association of Christian Communities and Networks in 2000. Chairman, Life Style Movement 2010-15 and Warden of the Ferrar House, Little Gidding Community 2005-08. He coxed his College boat whilst at Cambridge and returned to rowing in retirement. During a weekend campaigning with his daughter in Genoa during a G8 Summit they were featured in a Times article challenging the stereotypes of the anarchist protestor that the media were mainly portraying. His ministry was one of hospitality and pastoral concern. It was not what he achieved but how he was with people. To mark his 80th birthday he walked 80 miles along the Nene Way, raising £ 17,500 for Freedom from Torture. When asked to define his church tradition he would say that he was OPEC
– Orthodox, Pentecostal, Evangelical and Catholic. He is survived by Judith, his wife of 54 years, and their two daughters.
Charles Maurice Churchill Dewar( F, 49- 54): died 10.7.2016. Son of MPDD( K, 20-24). Lords 1953, VI 1953, Soccer XI 1953-54( Captain). RMAS 1954-55. Commissioned into The Buffs, with whom he served in BAOR, Aden, Kenya and the Far East. On the staff in BAOR and with 2 Queen’ s Regiment in Belfast 1970 and BAOR. Retired as Major 1974. Admitted as a solicitor 1977 with Charles Russell & Co, Lincoln’ s Inn 1978-82, and with Thomson Snell & Passmore from 1982. He was first and foremost a soldier: forthright and tenacious and regarded as a demon of an adjutant – impatient with cant and pretension. He was a sportsman, being Tennis Champion HQ BAOR 1969. He retained his interest in sport both as a player and as a spectator. He maintained his connection with his regiment, organising the Dragons Club dinners for former Buffs officers until he died.
Peter Russell Gordon-Smith( K, 51-56): died in his favourite pub on 17.1.2016. VIII. Dartmouth 1956, 3rd generation father to son in the Royal Navy. Having trained as a navigator, he initially served in Singapore and the Far East in HMS Caprice, HMS Russell and HMS Parapet and later served in the Persian Gulf. He left the Royal Navy in 1976 as Lieutenant- Commander. He took up farming in the South Downs, making a lasting and successful business. Diagnosed with Parkinson’ s in 1998, he retired from farming and returned to Emsworth, where he enjoyed classic-car driving, model-train building and a special wine cellar. Married 1963 Marion Else, who died in 2010. He is survived by their son and daughter.
Nicholas Adam Tatton-Brown( E, 52- 56): died 7.3.2016 suddenly in his garden just a couple of months short of his golden wedding anniversary. Father of DNT-B( K, 82-87) and SWT-B( F, 85-89). Burne Cup. National Service with The Black
