Southern Campus Update
The enormous white temporary sports centre, together with its car park,
opened at Christmas time. It will serve users until completion of the new
facility, whereupon it will be dismantled and KP will be restored to a pristine
cricket pitch. The temporary sports hall is bigger than its predecessor in the old
building. It has been difficult to walk anywhere near the site without pausing to
watch the massive mechanical diggers at work, ripping down the old PE Centre
and Laundry – your editor’s four-year-old son is particularly taken with the one
which resembles an aggressive brachiosaurus. The major phase of demolition
work is mostly complete and the new Works building has its roof on. Readers
