Arbitration Practice 2000. He retained his
interest in rowing, first kindled at
Winchester, at Trinity Hall and later with
the London Rowing Club, with whom he
rowed in five successive Henleys. He took
part in the famous 12 oar row over the
Henley course at the 150th regatta in
1989. All the while his interest in sailing
burgeoned under the inspiration of Giles
Chichester: he took part in the first
Observer single-handed Transatlantic
Race and later chartered Gypsy Moth V
for the inaugural BOC single-handed
Round the World Race won by Robin
Knox-Johnston. Elected a member The
Royal Yacht Squadron and a flag officer of
the Ocean Cruising Club. In 1993 he
joined the Serpentine Running Club,
taking part in 65 of the club’s monthly
handicap races round the Serpentine, and
running four London Marathons. Active
and competitive throughout his life.
