For full context I founded and own my law firm, The Simon Law Group( The Justice Team), and have tried more cases than I can count, won trial lawyer of the year a handful of times, and built a firm of just me and my brother to 30 lawyers. We are mostly all referral based, and often thought unmanageable to be both a litigation / trial firm, and also do direct to consumer and have a vast Pre- Litigation department. Call centers, intake, systems seemed daunting. Because of that, we decided to go all in on branding in social media. We started a media network, The Justice Team Network, with shows like Bourbon of Proof. It was our way to compete with all those with larger budgets going direct to consumer. And it worked. Well, let me be the first to tell you that the well-branded lawyers, who is really good at what they do, is about to be able to level the competing arena, and dominate.
As the founder of both Justice HQ and Attorney Share, I am often pitched every product under the sun, and have venture capital and private equity companies constantly trying to get a meeting( still successful at avoiding both). With this knowledge, I usually have a crystal ball into our immediate and long-term future because you can tell where the outside money is flowing. Right now it is on automating the personal injury law firms with the use of AI( and AI agents), and to totally disrupt intake. Sounds scary right? Well it can be. But let me give you my take on how the good lawyers and good humans will win.
Very well-funded law firms who also happen to be really good at digital marketing are now going national. They will be looking to efficiently work with the best lawyers across the country, do it quickly, and be able to track all their referrals. They are looking for the best lawyers to get the best results. They are looking to have status updates automated. I know this because I see it on Attorney Share daily. Now the good lawyers can win simply by doing great work, and being visible on a platform to be sent cases in their wheelhouses. But shall we take this a step further?
Intake and call centers. We all know the folks that have hundreds of people answering calls on shore and off shore. We never thought we could compete and go direct to consumer. Well, enter AI voice intake. What used to be robotic, with long delay, is now more pleasant that talking to a human. What used to cost 10 bucks a minute even a year ago, is now... well, let’ s say a lot less. They can do hundreds of intakes at a time. Never miss anything. Know every practice area. There are real time transcripts going right into your systems, and will hot transfer to you or your team if a case meets your criteria. And if a different practice area, or a geographic area, it can still qualify that case, and with Attorney Share, can help you find the best referral partner or co-counsel, and have everything tracked. Add in using AI to help your websites rank better, and all of the sudden, with your brand, you are not only competing with the“ big dawgs,” you are passing them up. And working with all your friends. Feel free to reach out. I will show the AI voice intake companies that I think are crushing, and will only do better.
We started a conference called Law Di Gras about six years ago to make it more fun and practical to be a lawyer. This year, we are doing something bigger and better centered around the notions above. Bringing everyone together. All the communities, all the networks, and showing how we can all work together, have a higher quality of life, and help more deserving people. Law Di Gras 2025 will be October 16 – 18, in San Diego, and very excited to show everyone how all the puzzle pieces fit. The practice of law will be drastically different in just the next 12 months, and everyone reading this is in the best position to succeed.
2025 is a whole new ball game. Well, except for the Pirates— they can use all the AI and technology they like and will still suck.
