DOUG BEAM Douglas R . Beam , P . A . • Melbourne , Florida

What was the first job you had ? Janitor at 15 years of age at an elementary school built by the Works Progress Administration ( WPA ) in my hometown of Gastonia , North Carolina . As a janitor , I had the opportunity to do everything from cleaning toilets and urinals to sweeping , mopping , priming , sealing , waxing and buffing solid wood floors to cutting grass to shoveling coal into the furnace so that students , teachers , librarians and everyone else would be nice and warm . One of the most rewarding and fun jobs I have ever had !
I attribute my success to : Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior . My wife of 41 years , Cathy , is my soulmate who has sacrificed to make my dreams come true . Being the child of Gilda and Hershal Beam , the first in their respective families to have college degrees , including graduate degrees , who served as public school educators , provided me with a solid moral and academic foundation . Other positive influences in life are my sisters , Cindy and Anne , other relatives and many , many friends .
