My first experience with a “ job ” was with my father who owned his own accounting and financial planning business in New York . Alongside my sister , we were our father ’ s “ little assistants ” and we learned to help him prepare envelopes for mailing campaigns during tax season . I helped develop a “ manufacturing chain ” to prepare and mail these envelopes between my sister and I — one of us would fold the letters and place them in envelopes and the other would stamp , address , and close the envelope . Through this experience , my father taught us the value of firstclass client-services and follow-through , which I have taken with me through life and apply those same values to our firm clients .
My proudest moments as an attorney happen during and after we intake a client and develop a legal strategy to help our client with their needs . Oftentimes , people come into our office as a “ last-hope ” and are uncertain about their legal rights or whether they can truly get any help for their situation . I take pride in our ability to help others with their unique needs — especially with constitutional violation issues . It means so much to become a warrior with a client , side-by-side , and strategize a unique plan to help them move forward in life .
I attribute my success to my family . My parents and husband are my # 1 supporters , they keep me going day after day . My family has provided me with the grace , patience , and undying
12 x The Trial Lawyer encouragement to continue the good fight for our clients , no matter what it takes . I also attribute my success to my long-time mentor and our firm ’ s managing partner , Kevin K . Ross- Andino . He has given me the strength and confidence to be fearless and creative to achieve results !
My most notable settlement was for a family who lost everything in a housefire . I carry this case in my heart because I truly enjoyed and was honored to help the family during their time of need . Through the court process , it seemed like we were able to help the family with the healing process after the awful incident . It was also impactful to me personally in my career as an attorney because this case relied heavily on unique legal strategies to achieve a settlement higher than the monetary limits set for the defendant-entity .
Being an attorney is my fantasy job and I am grateful to be in this profession ! However , after retirement ( a long time from now ), I would love to have a farm — I love animals and gardening … it would be fantastic to have a farm with plenty of animals and sustainable fruits and vegetables in the future .
I consider my “ guilty pleasures ” to be a bit quirky and I have a few of them which help me relax . I am obsessed with coffee . I have several different types of coffee makers to fit my mood , but the one I use the most is my Nespresso Pixie because of how it brews the perfect cup of espresso , without fail . Video games are definitely a guilty pleasure , especially the ones where I have a virtual farm . Cooking relaxes me , plus I make a mean porterhouse steak . I also have a bizarre love for stationery — everything from planners and sticky-notes to pens and planner-stickers !
During my personal time , I enjoy cooking with my husband . Our favorite creation is a simple porterhouse steak from our local butcher with onions , garlic , pepper , dried herbs , and a savory butter concoction accompanied by a homemade cilantro-lime rice . It ’ s always a debate as to who is the true “ grill master .” Plus , we love spending time outside in our yard with our dog , Slash , and two rescue ducks , Grape and Tomato .
My favorite hobbies are cooking , reading fiction books , and playing my farming video games . I find these activities extremely relaxing , and they help me re-focus and clear my mind .
It ’ s hard for me to think about my embarrassing life moments because I don ’ t tend to be embarrassed by much — I am very down-to-earth , and I view all life moments as a gift . However , I know I always embarrass my mother ( lovingly of course ) when we are out together , and I take a phone call ... she says I talk to loud and am too excited all the time !
