The National Trial Lawyers : Top 100 is an invitation-only organization composed of the premier trial lawyers from across the country who meet stringent qualifications as civil plaintiff and / or criminal defense trial lawyers . It is our mission to promote a unique and professional networking opportunity for trial lawyers , while developing progressive ideas to pursue justice for those injured by the negligence of others , to educate the public about the importance of access to courts that are free of bias and undue influence , and to protect the American right of trial by jury .

Proudest moment : At the conclusion of a case — win or lose — when the client tells me how much he or she will miss me .
I attribute my success to . . . Above-average — but pretty balanced — levels of creativity , diligence , and organization .
Notable verdicts / settlements : Successfully litigating “ dark patterns ” under state consumer protection laws before the term even existed ; expanding nuisance law to include the distribution of genetically-modified seeds and the marketing and sale of opioids ; developing deceptive and unfair trade practice theories for holding investment banks responsible for the financial crisis of 2007-2008 .
Fantasy job : Buyer for a store like Ikram or McMullen .
Guilty pleasure : Mallomars .
In my time off . . . I like what my friends and I call a “ city day ”: moving around the city on foot , probably motivated by food ( at least one meal or fancy bakery ) and visiting a museum or window shopping — or both .
Favorite hobby : I write a style blog .
One word that describes me : Spirited
Keeps me awake at night : Wondering how it ’ s all going to end . But if I am sleepy , these thoughts won ’ t keep me awake long .
Daily reading : The New York Times , then Huffington Post , then Vox .
Advice to young attorneys : Always be learning and take time regularly to reflect and consolidate your gains .
How do you relax : Walking . Even when I am walking fast , I find being in motion very relaxing .
Most embarrassing moment in life . Arriving for an ATLA panel dressed in resort wear and realizing the “ Business Attire ” dress code for speakers was not a joke .
