“The Kory Lodge” lodged its food into the right spot
Like everyone on Mother’s day, my family decided to celebrate this annual occasion. Some might make a delicious meal while other have the food made for them. We decided to be lazy and go to a restaurant. Now we could have gone to the boat in Marquette, but you can only go to one place so many times before it becomes old news. We didn’t want this because the bout is a special place for the family. My mother mentioned “The Kory Lodge” in Clermont and I tell you what, I already can’t wait to go again.
Clermont is only about 15 minutes away making it 40 minutes closer then Marquette. That means I can get my food sooner, can eat it faster and can still leave and get home in the hour. The location also helps for group gathering. Everyone that I know lives within a 20-mile radius of The Lodge. If I wanted to start a invite to dinner, there is a higher chance of people showing up in Clermont then in Marquette. When we showed up, we found a parking spot instantly. The lot isn’t too small but at the same time is not too big for the restaurant’s size. The surprise, however, was not the parking lot but what awaited us inside.
Once we walked in, we were met with the aroma of breakfast and lunch. Since it was mother’s day, they were having a brunch special. Pay a price per head and it is all-you-can-eat. A down side to being a special day was most restaurants require you to make a reservation. We did not know this, but we were in luck. A very nice waitress took the time to find two unoccupied tables, slide them together, have us seated and take our drinks. If she were not to be there, we probably would’ve had to go somewhere else. The place was very organized. They had at least ten tables in the front section and two separate back rooms. One of the rooms had more tables and the other was a family entertainment room, (Billiards, Racecar Game, a Slot Machine and an Air Hockey Table). There was a bar up front for those who like the real drinking experience. Once our drinks were taken, the Guenthers took over the food stands.
There were a variety of different kinds of juicy, savory food. Like always, however, I had to try everything. On my plate was a little bit of scrambled eggs, cheesy hash browns, French toast sticks, round sausages, and of course bacon. In a side bowl I had mandarin oranges, watermelon pieces and half of a wipe cream filled long john. My father grabbed everything I did except he had a few slices of ham on his. When I took a bite I could tell that trip was worth it.
Every bite I took was just as good as the first, every single commination was flawless and it was too filling for seconds. Maybe the only thing wrong was the hash browns had a few extra onions but that is for you to decide. After I was done, I went to find any dessert and I found something. It looked to be a type of cinnamon roll but in bowl form. A CINNAMON BOWL!! Anyway, I took a piece and tried it. It literally tasted like it was bread soaked in cinnamon, drying in cinnamon air and glazed with cinnamon frosting. I was so good!
My experience with food is an endless discovery. All I know is when I leave for college and then return home, The Kory Lodge is on my list of places to eat.
