WHICH PART OF THE WORLD DO YOU CALL HOME?
I live in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, Australia.
TELL ME SOMETHING FASCINATING ABOUT YOUR CITY
The Blue Mountains is an elevated community that looks down onto a national park.
The national park has a blue hue because the vegetation below breathes a chemical
that creates a blue haze. The view is beautiful from our community, like looking through
a blue gauze.
WHAT IS YOUR SPECIAL SKILL?
I am a screenwriter and a script editor. I am also unbeaten at the board game Cluedo
and also always the first player bankrupt in any game of Monopoly - guaranteed.
WHERE IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT?
I’d like to either go back to where I was born, Paisley in Scotland, or to my wife’s
cultural origin, Russia. She has never been there and has relatives she has never met.
LIST A MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE HAD
I was in Los Angeles in 2001 for work. On my departure at LAX I started a conversation
with an actor. During our discussion I was plagued with thinking that I knew him. His
face was so familiar. As we said our goodbyes and walked to our respective gates, I
suddenly realised. He was Bruce Payne.
He played the hijacker in the Wesley Snipes air plane thriller, Passenger 57. He was the villain who tried
to crash the plane. Later as I sat on the flight heading back to Sydney, I recalled our conversation.
We were happy and optimistic about the future. A few hours later the planes flew into the World Trade
Centre and I had come home to a new world.
WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER?
I offer a script editing service for writers with either a concept or first draft. I work closely with the
writer, helping build their first or second draft. I set deadlines, offer exercises but most importantly
offer a sounding board and dialogue to aid in the realisation of their idea.
WHAT HAS BEEN A HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR CAREER?
I was sitting in the cinema about to watch 8 Legged Freaks. Just before the movie started, the trailers
played. A trailer played for my second feature film called Blurred. The audience laughed. It was a relief.
I also found myself dancing with Will Smith at an after-party for I, Robot. But that’s another story.
WHERE CAN WE FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT YOU?
