CLAUDIA PREECE sits down with one of The TRADE ' s 2024 Rising Stars, equity trader at Pictet Asset Management, Jade Beckmann, to discuss the dynamic on the firm’ s desk, delving into what’ s front of mind for the team for the rest of 2025 and unpacking which factors are set to have the biggest impact on traders’ day-to-day life now, and into the future.
How would you describe the dynamic of the trading desk [ at Pictet AM ]? As part of the broader desk, I specialise in US equity trading within a close-knit team of four, operating during US market hours out of London. Since joining Pictet Asset Management, I’ ve been welcomed into a team of dedicated and experienced traders who are not only excellent communicators but also open to fresh ideas and perspectives. The trading desk is fast-paced, vibrant and deeply passionate about the markets.

What’ s been the main topic of conversation on your desk over the last few months? I’ m sure it’ s no surprise that two big topics we have been discussing are the new US administration and its potential for short term headline driven volatility over the next four years. And secondly, artificial intelligence( AI), where we’ ve been chatting about whether the " AI trade " has more room to run or if much of the potential is already priced in. Its influence extends into other industries, such as healthcare, industrials, and power generation, but it also raises questions around sustainability, I imagine these cross-industry connections will continue to create interesting investment opportunities going forward.
