2019
OF TR ADING AND EXECUTION
F
ollowing an industry
nomination process and
extensive market research,
The TRADE’s Rising Stars of
Trading and Execution returned
for its fifth year, recognising 20
of the most promising up-and-
coming talents in buy-side trading.
Hosted during the cocktail
reception at the Leaders in
Trading 2019 awards dinner, The
TRADE’s publisher, Jonathan
Watkins, presented this year’s
crop of the asset management’s
best and brightest with their
crystals.
Each year, the Rising Stars of
82 // TheTrade // Winter 2019
Trading and Execution aims to
recognise the best young talent
buy-side desks have to offer. Our
nomination process allows the
capital markets community to put
forward their selection, before the
shortlist was whittled down to the
final 20 by The TRADE’s editorial
team, basing their judgements on
the nominee’s careers to date and
the commendations submitted.
Rising Stars of previous years
have featured those that have
gone on to lead trading desks
and teams across the industry,
including Matthew McLoughlin,
head of trading at Liontrust Asset
Management, Ed Wicks, global
head of trading at Legal and
General Investment Management,
and this year’s winner of the
trader of the year (long-only)
award at Leaders in Trading,
Cathy Gibson, head of dealing at
Royal London Asset Management.
Congratulations to all of this
year’s Rising Stars, listed overleaf.
