Grand Rounds® a hole-in-one for medical education
The 14th annual Baylor Health Care System Foundation
Grand Rounds® Golf Tournament was sponsored by Bank of
Texas for the seventh consecutive year. Teeing off at Northwood
Club, the fall tournament raised nearly $300,000 to support
undergraduate and graduate medical education at Baylor
University Medical Center at Dallas. More than 200 leading citizens and 50 sponsors from across Dallas came out for the day
of golf, including platinum sponsors Duke Realty, Kaufman
Hall, The David B. Miller Family Foundation, and Western
Extrusions. Gold sponsors this year included Baylor Institute
for Rehabilitation, CBRE, MedAssets Supply Chain Systems,
and Northern Trust. Since the first tournament, Grand Rounds
supporters have contributed more than $3 million toward
Baylor’s medical education initiatives.
A recognized leader in the training of medical professionals since
1903, Baylor Dallas trains approximately 220 residents and fellows in 30 specialties each year — ranging from internal medicine
to vascular surgery to pathology.
In order for Baylor to continue to offer high-quality medical educational programs that help secure the future health of our community, donor support is critical. Thanks to Grand Rounds’ supporters
and other generous donors, the Foundation plans to fund 31 residents
and fellows in fiscal year 2016 at a cost of more than $2.5 million.
“The cost of providing graduate medical education continues to rise
and support of Grand Rounds ensures that we continue to offer
high-quality medical educational programs,” said Rowland K.
Robinson, Foundation president. “Our goal is to help secure the future
of our community by training the best and brightest minds to practice safe, quality, compassionate health care.”
