1 st GA – DISEC by Kyriakou Stella In DISEC committee it was discussed the reequipment of children’s soldiers. Firstly, the delegates were feeling anxious and maybe terrified, due to the fact that the majority of them, participated in this procedure, for the first time was passing they were adjusting. From the beginning, the countries that stood out, was Australia, Belgium and Syria who supported that the problem of children reequipment is a very serious one and then the next countries who spoke declared that they respect the rights of children. Moreover all the countries mentioned the physical and psychological problems that are caused to the children after they were forced to join the army. Poland mentioned ISIS and the damages it has caused to children due to the fact that ISIS uses children as suicide bombs and recruits them without their will. All of the countries were against ISIS and they supported that the countries who help financially ISIS should stop. The main solutions that were proposed, were to stop selling weapons to children and generally to people, children should focus on education and countries should support organizations that help children in both, physical psychological ways. There were 4 unmoderated caucuses in which delegates discussed and tried to find solutions for child reequipment. In my opinion the delegates of Poland, Belgium, Syria, Australia and Mexico were the most active ones who presented numerous ideas and solutions. In conclusion they were presented plenty of solutions to the problem of child reequipment and there is hope for the solution of this serious problem.
