Rockwall restaurant appeases the taste buds of everyone
W
hether looking to keep
a tight calorie count or
indulge in comfort food
classics with a twist, Standard Service
seeks to provide that with its self-
described “modern American” menu.
The creation of the minds behind
the restaurant HG Sply Co., Standard
Service looks to appease the taste
buds of Rockwallians and visitors alike
with menu options that include bison
chili — served by the cup, bowl or in
a Frito pie — and tuna avocado bowls,
and most everything in between.
More popular options on the
menu, according to general manager
Dan Carr, are signature dishes like
chicken fried chicken, the bunless
burger bowl and the chicken ravioli.
Creating an overall dining
experience that includes the
surrounding community, the restaurant
incorporates a bar area with a unique
menu quirk that gives Standard
Service an exclusive Rockwall feel.
The bar regularly features a
shortlist of new drinks, curated by
and named after local people or
community groups. A dollar off the
cost of each drink is donated to
the charity selected by each drink’s
namesake.
One of the usual cocktails that’s
a favorite among patrons is the “Salty
Dawg,” which benefits Women in
Need. The cocktail is made up of
a mix of vodka, lime and freshly-
squeezed grapefruit juice.
“Even people who don’t normally
like grapefruit juice like this drink
because it’s freshly squeezed,” Carr

Creating a sense of community
and through specially crafted drinks is
one way Standard Service has created
a bond with the Rockwall community.
Carr said the relationship he and
other staff members have created with
patrons is a “unique” one.
“It’s the most unique in that we are a
family,” Carr said, referring to Standard
Service staff and regular patrons. “We have a
lot of regular customers from the area who all
know one another as they dine in often.”
