Thank

Jones Family
F
or twelve years, Camp Tejas has been abundantly blessed by having the Jones Family as a
critical and beloved member of our team. David spent a large part of his youth at Camp
Tejas with his parents, retired directors Billy and Janice Jones, and returned to join the staff
in 2000 as Facilities Director. Upon their retirement, he became Chief Executive Officer in
2005. Jennifer has served the camp as Discipleship Coordinator. In addition to their official
responsibilities, both David and Jennifer have served both the guests and staff of Camp Tejas
with their whole hearts, and their service and devotion will truly be missed.
David’s vision for the future of Camp Tejas has been one of its greatest assets. Under his leadership, the camp has seen tremendous growth. The expansion of facilities has not only been
impressive in terms of its ability to accomodate more guests, but is unsurpassed in its quality,
and in the intimate and attractive atmosphere it provides for guests who are often surprised
they are at “camp.” David is also the catalyst behind the Lights of Tejas, our holiday festival
of lights, which has provided a new family tradition and an opportunity to hear the Gospel
in a fun and innovative way.
Beyond buildings and programs, however, the Joneses have built an even more lasting legacy.
Their focus on the discipleship of the staff, both full-time and seasonal, has made Camp Tejas
a unique and impactful place to live and work. Their heart, above all, has been to kindle each
staff member’s own personal walk with Christ. For this, our staff is grateful and intends, even
in their absence, to carry on this legacy.
Thank you for your leadership and your friendship, David and Jennifer.

Summer Ministry Team
Serving others and growing in Christ
The Summer Ministry Team is a unique opportunity for students to serve in a way that goes far beyond
a summer job. Over 70 students between the ages of 16 and 25 are selected each summer to be a part of
the Summer Ministry Team. These students make summer camp happen. They are constantly on the
forefront of serving our guests, attending to their needs, and keeping them safe. They are trained to
provide safety at the waterfront area, manage the high ropes and recreation activities,
and help accommodate our guests with wonderful food service and clean facilities.
Beyond meeting the needs of our guests, the SMT students participate in an extensive discipleship
program specifically designed to support them in their walk with Christ. They are constantly challenged
with the truth of God’s word and encouraged to die to themselves so that Christ can live through them.
The program is made up of daily activities including large and small group Bible studies, covenant groups,
personal devotional time, and Scripture memory. It is a life-changing experience for every student.
The Summer Ministry Team program is essential to accomplishing
our goal to provide an environment where God can change lives.
