A Closer Look: @ State School A boy at State School wrote this letter to his friends at Tejas thanking them for believing in him. Dear Camp Tejas, I thank ya’ll for taking time out of your schedules just to make us happy and glad that at least somebody cares about our incarcerated lives. All of you have made me happy. I have a sentence of three to ten years so if you come next summer, I will still be here at Giddings State School. My life is slowly being torn apart because my family is starting to visit less and less throughout the year. I can’t go home because my mom thinks that I might reoffend if I live there. Please write me back. I am trying to get my credits in school as well as my completion stage. If you don’t know what that shirt looks like, it is a light blue button up. I wish I could go to my halfway house and start a new life. I want to see what Camp Tejas looks like. I bet it is huge with lots of kids and picnic tables in the woods. Thank you so much for having fun with us as well as picking our spirits up and helping us see that we really can make something of ourselves. I love you all my tall, outgoing, energetic, funny, caring, and hardworking friends. Sincerely your brother, C.P. “ Community Ministry was always a fun time with the adorable kids! Even though we were the ones teaching them, I ended up learning a lot from them, too. - Youngjin Park, International SMT MONDAY-THURSDAY >> SUNDAY >> Kids Corner >> Every ” Tales of the Kingdom Crossroads >> On Sunday night at Fellowship in Giddings, Discipleship Intern Allie Brown, and Community Ministry Intern Leslie Harris went to lead a Sunday school class for the children. weekdays, Tejas staff went to Westwood Villa, Shade Tree, Sun Valley, and the City Park to teach the children of Giddings about God.
