Faith in the
Darkness
By Nerys James, SMT International Team Leader >>
The dark can be a scary place to be. However, one thing God has been teaching me is that sometimes,
being in the darkness is a great gift. Psalm 42:8 says, “Each day, the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me, and
through each night I sing His songs, praying to God who gives me life.” Therefore, we have no reason to fear. Today
we have become too consumed with doubt, worry, and insecurities, all of which lead us away from God. If we change
our perspective and reach out to Him in the dark moments, as Psalm 121 teaches us, then the darkness is often the
place we see Him most clearly. Just like worshiping in the back of a truck under the stars at eleven o’clock at night,
sometimes God will take us to our darkest places as it is here that we become most humble -- being on bended
knee to our God who provides. So look for the light. Whether it is a guitar in a truck, the moon at midnight, or
continual prayer, the light is there. We simply have to be willing to look for it and be open to receive its glory.
“Sometimes
God will
take us to
our darkest
places as it is
there that we
become most
humble.”
