r. Bill Powell of Houston, Texas and owner of Powell
Electric purchases hundreds of acres of property in Lee
County with the purpose of creating a retreat and horse ranch
away from the city for his family. The Camp Tejas property originally consisted of a log cabin near the present day guest parking areas. This cabin eventually burns down and the process of
building many of the buildings still used today would begin.
