How much of an effect would it take on your job if the modern-day technology you have was taken away?

Cops would just be walking and riding horses around looking for crime. We rely so heavily on the technology we have to do our job. Without it we are practically useless to the people.

Do you think the department should offer better training on the use of technology?

When I went through the police academy. They gave us training on everything possible. We were trained in driving, shooting, how to use a radio, handcuffing, they even put us through a writing course so we would write good police reports. They cover just about everything and train you the best they possibly can.

If modern day technology like computers, cell phones, and access to the internet were taken away from civilians do you think there would be a drop in crime?

The drop in crime would be amazing I bet. I have responded to so many fights that started over social media beef its ridicules. If I could just ban social media my job would be easy.

If you could invent your own piece of technology, anything imaginable, what would it be and why?

Haha if I could invent any piece of technology it would have to be a freeze gun. You know something that shoots out some sort of electronic wave and people just freeze, because if there is one thing I hate. It has to be chasing people down. I may only be 23 but my track career ended in high school.

From this interview with Officer Krug, I have a new perspective on the technology used by police in the 21st century. I have learned from someone who has hands on experience and the truth about their technology. The interview has helped me shape my new perspective on police technology and in the end I hope it has also helped shape the readers.
