I am 25 years old. I am born and raised in South Auckland, New Zealand. I have a Bachelor of Arts major in Social Sciences from Aut, a Diploma in Public Relations and Communication Management with The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand.
I come from a Maori, European, Irish and 1/4 Tongan background. I currently run an International Community Project named The Planet Humanity Project, which helps one charity a month, every year through donations to date we have helped 21 charities, projects or people in need. I also do Zumba once a week and have recently learned to grow a vegetable garden.
I believe in equality within communities that are struggling. I stand for human rights and giving back to the community, whether it be through finding a way to feed the homeless, give homes to pets that are abandoned or teaching a child how to read. I believe that anyone can improve a community by giving to at least one person or project or charity within their community that they know needs help.
I am currently studying a double major at AUT in Health promotion and Psychology. My hope is to help achieve equity for all regardless of socioeconomic status, ethnicity or back ground. I believe we can accomplish this through nutrition, education, lobbying and mass civil disobedience. Among other things I am also a passionate greeny and believe it is our responsibility to respect and look after the environment. My past work has included working for Greenpeace, and now currently working for The Cancer Society. In the little spare time I have, I like to get involved in public protests and voice my opinion, in a peaceful manner! I am also an undercover crazy cat lady with two fur babies, currently convincing my partner for the next addition!
I will leave you with one of my favourite quotes which I think sums up the state of the world right now;
“When the last tree is cut, when the last river has been poisoned, when the last fish has been caught, then we will find out that we can't eat money."
