The Story of the Amitabha Stupa, Sedona Arizona 1 | Page 7
An Auspicious Setting
Visitors to the Amitabha Stupa
and Peace Park can feel that
there is something pristine
about the site. There is a palpable stillness, a sacred presence,
a sense of timeless wonder.
In the early 1990s Jetsunma
first saw the 14 acres that are
now home to the Amitabha
Stupa. She was delighted with
the land’s remarkable qualities
and knew that the site was
an ideal location on which to
build a stupa.
Several years later, after the
property was purchased for
KPC, other lamas and Feng
Shui experts familiar with geomancy, also remarked that the
land is extremely felicitous.
The land’s geomancy:
To the North is a mountain that looks like a turtle.
To the West is a long rock with an eagle’s head.
To the South are two “tiger fangs.”
To the East are dragon hills.
Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche
described the property as a
“natural mandala” and pointed
out that “all the interdependent
auspicious signs are there in
their entirety.” World-renown
Feng Shui expert Lillian Too
also noted that the land has
the most providential configuration of mountains that embrace
it on all sides, sloping ground
and water pathways.
The Amitabha Stupa Park is truly
a place where the earth rises up
to meet the spirit.
