The Story of the Amitabha Stupa, Sedona Arizona 1 | Page 28
“The stupa, with relics at its heart, is the source of stainless merit...”
Once completed, the sok-shing
was painted red and adorned
with golden mantras and sacred
seed syllables that correlate to
the Tibetan chakra system.
Exceedingly rare relics from past
Buddhas and enlightened masters were placed precisely on the
tree, contributing to the spiritual potency of the Stupa. The
tree was then wrapped in cloth
and draped in colored banners
representing the five Buddha
families. A group of monks and
nuns ceremoniously circumambulated the stupa with the tree
of life before it was placed in its
central core.
–Lord Buddha
”Stupas are filled with
sacred images, mantras
and the relics of holy
beings. The foundation,
symmetry, orientation
and contents of the stupa
create incredible power
to those who even look
upon it. Stupas have the
potential to transcend the
limitations of language
to activate enlightened
knowledge.”
- Lama Zopa Rinpoche
