AUBURN UNIVERSITY
Founded in 1856, during a time of great political and economic upheaval in the U.S, that would usher in the Civil War, as the East Alabama Male College . Auburn is a public flagship university that is one of the select schools that is designated as a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant research center with a student population of 27,287 representing over 100 countries. Auburn University has 13 schools and colleges that have been ranked among the best in the U.S.
Among its notable alumni includes: Tim Cook, CEO, Apple, Jimmy Wales, co-founder of Wikipedia, and Cam Newton, Quarterback for Carolina Panthers.
TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY
Tuskegee University founded in 1881 is a private, historical African- American University founded by Booker T. Washington, the unparalleled African-American leader of his epoch. It is here that George Washington Carver, the renowned botanist discovered over more than a hundred usages for the peanut and the sweet potato. Today, Tuskegee University is ranked as one of the top HBCU (Historical Black Colleges and Universities). It offers 40 bachelor degree program, it has 5 colleges and 2 schools offering undergraduate and graduate programs in Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, Architecture, among other disciplines. It
has a student population of over 3,100 from U. S. and 31 countries. Distinguished alumni include the Tuskegee Airmen, author Ralph Ellison, and Daniel Chapman, first African American Four Star General.
COLUMBUS STATE UNIVERSITY
Columbus State University,
a public university founded in 1958 as a junior college and by
1965, was granted status as a four year institution of higher learning. Presently, this university offers 75 undergraduate and graduate programs comprised in 4 school and a student population of over 8,000. It's MBA program, theatre and music has been recognize for its excellence. Distinguished alumni include: Joni Ernst, U. S. Senator (R-IA), Sammy Rachel, pro-golfer and Dr. Shirley McKellar, political activist.
