A Day For Fathers
An amazing gathering to celebrate fathers

The Office of African American Affairs sponsored
its 2nd Annual Male Mentors Celebration on June 24th to
facilitate fathers and male mentors spending quality time
with their children. Various obstacle-course activities
were set up that had to be completed as teams. These
games highlighted strong qualities of both the youth
and adult mentors, critical for relationship-building. A
workshop was put on where respected African American
fathers, guardians, and male mentors from the community
had an engaging and motivational conversation with
other male mentors and their children. They discussed
their experiences and the importance of a father figure
or male mentor in a child’s life.
