14th Annual Outstanding Service Awards
Luncheon
In June of 2017, The New Mexico Office of
African American Affairs presented its 14th Annual
Outstanding Service Awards Luncheon. The event
was held at the Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid. The
annual event recognizes individuals and organizations
who have made significant contributions toward the
improvement of the life of Blacks in the state of New
Mexico.
There were 230 registered participants in
attendance to salute the accomplishments of this
year’s award recipients from throughout the state of
New Mexico. The awardees received recognition
for outstanding service in the areas of Education
Advancement, Economic Empowerment, Community
Development and Healthcare Advocacy.
There were 16 award recipients of the 2017
Outstanding Service Awards and 5 recipients of the
Executive Service Awards.

This year the agency took a look at historical sites
in New Mexico, that hold a historical significance and
told the story of our people. Preserving this legacy is
important to our community and will continue to be a
focus of OAAA.
