Brief List of Agency Accomplishments 2012 - 2018 Education Advancement  Partnered with the New Mexico State Martin Luther King Jr. Commission to provide a more comprehensive, age-appropriate curriculum to be implemented during annual youth conference and in communities statewide for 400+ youth.  Literacy and STEAM/STEM Enrichment held at 3 community centers in Albuquerque hosting 500+ youth from low social economic households, in partnership with Governor Susana Martinez’s summer reading challenge.  In partnership with the New Mexico Public Broadcasting System, 125+ social studies teachers received lesson plans on a more in-depth look at US African American history to implement in classrooms, meeting common core standards.        School to Prison Pipeline panel discussions held in Bernalillo and Doña Ana counties in partnership with counseling services, law enforcement, judicial system and school districts to bring education and awareness to the over representation of children of color in suspension and expulsion. Inner Beauty Summit held in co-sponsorship with the Albuquerque Public School District, Black women and men empowerment organizations and faith communities for 600+ middle-school girls. Partnerships with 5 New Mexico universities: Eastern New Mexico University, New Mexico Highlands University, New Mexico State University, New Mexico State University - Alamogordo and the University of New Mexico to support Black students, faculty and family success. Worked with NM Children Youth and Families Department to form a partnership for awareness of the benefits of early childhood development in the Black communities. Sponsored FAFSA workshops that reached more than 75 families. The workshops were designed to help parents understand the different financial means available for college. Historical Black colleges and universities partnership. Discussions started with the University of New Mexico, Morris Brown College, Spellman University, Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine, Bennett College, Winston Salem State University, NC A&T State University and NC Central, to form internships and US and national student exchange. Began work with the New Mexico Public School Department, gathering 25 statewide stakeholders, to review the social studies core curriculum, offering more in-depth history and teacher resources. Economic Empowerment  Partnered with 6 community career fairs and economic empowerment sessions to increase employment opportunities for minority communities in Lea, Bernalillo and Curry counties.  Formed a Strategic Alliance with the US Small Business Administration, outlining funding and business development resources for Black business owners and entrepreneurs.  Black fathers and male mentors initiative has honored and encouraged over 120 African American father figures for the vital role they play in our communities and formed networks of support among participants.  The Loan Fund joined with OAAA to insure Black owned businesses have access to capital. OAAA provided step by step support for business owners and entrepreneurs with business start-up/improvement.  Financial literacy workshops were conducted and supported for 150+ youth and adults in Curry, Dona Ana and Bernalillo counties, through partnerships with 7+ organizations.  Facilitated home ownership workshops to improve relatively low homeownership rates for Blacks in New Mexico, by increasing education and access to resources.  Facilitated 20+ Small Business Development workshops and networking events in Lea, Curry, Doña Ana, Valencia, Sandoval and Bernalillo counties.  Facilitated youth economic empowerment sessions for 450+ youth focusing on financial literacy and creative entrepreneurship concepts.
